CommuniCare Health Centers provides imbedded therapeutic services in seven schools throughout Woodland Joint Unified School District. Services are provided by full time Masters-level clinicians at each of the following: two elementary schools: Woodland Prairie Elementary School and Whitehead Elementary School; two middle schools: Lee Middle School and Douglass Middle School; and three high schools: Cache Creek High School, Pioneer High School, and Woodland High School. Clinicians provide a plethora of therapeutic and supportive services based on the individualized needs of their respective schools and embed themselves with an understanding of the school culture and dynamics in order to provide the most effective service. Services include: individual and group therapy to address substance use, social, behavioral, and emotional needs, as well as, crisis intervention, class presentations, resource referrals, addressing and resolving attendance and truancy problems, and behavioral observation and recommendation. Clinicians utilize evidenced-based practices such as: Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Substance Abuse, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Seeking Safety, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, among others. Additional services include: participation in SST/IEP/504 meetings, case management, family and parenting supportive services, and consultation and collaboration with parents, administrators, teachers, PBIS and RTI specialists, academic counselors, and psychologists, and other individuals supporting students on the school campuses.
